TITLE: Community Relations Specialist
LOCATION: Carmel, IN
Marketing is hiring a Community Relations Specialist. The CNO Community Relations Specialist supports the Director of Community Relations in promoting CNO and its family of brands in the communities where our associates live and work; specifically, Birmingham, Carmel (Ind.), Chicago, Milwaukee, Orlando and Philadelphia.
This is your opportunity to be develop and implement logistics for annual, strategic philanthropic and sponsorship programs for CNO and its family of brands with some oversight.
The specialist plans, communicates, executes and reports the impact of most of the 30-annual volunteer/sponsorship events held in CNO’s corporate locations and, once annually, nationwide. This candidate's efforts will especially focus on support of the CNO Financial Group Indianapolis Monumental Marathon sponsorship.
Success in this role is measured by the ability to deliver on-time campaigns which positively impact CNO and its charity partners via funds raised and/or associate participation rates.
Key Job Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
Develop detailed event project plans, including timelines, budgets and communications, for CNO associates and its subsidiaries’ insurance producers.
Conceptualize then request event promotion material, including posters, program ads, event planning kits, blogs, videos, internal newsletters and executive communications.
Orient volunteers and serve as an on-site coordinator for in-person event rollout days, when possible in the future. This historically meant leading event logistics in one corporate location while the manager is in another.
Provide administrative support, including reporting community relations metrics, invoice processing, maintaining data in spreadsheets, creating PowerPoint presentations, placing event supply orders, requesting meeting rooms and writing meeting agendas.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
Good knowledge of event/campaign program creation using Microsoft Project/Excel, tracking volunteer programs and hours in an online system (e.g. Volunteer Match or similar) and design tools including Canva.
Solid written and verbal communication skills, as well as analytical, organizational and personal skills.
Education and Experience:
Typically requires a bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing or equivalent.
Typically requires a minimum of one to three years of experience in community/public relations departments and/or event planning/project management, with portfolio samples.
Preferred work history with nonprofit organizations either by position or through volunteerism.
Relocation Available: No
CNO Financial Group is pursuing a hybrid working model. Our associates will have access to come into their affiliated Office (Carmel, Chicago or Philadelphia) up to 2 days/week, and work from home at least 3 days/week. To ensure accessibility to our corporate campuses, we ask that candidates reside within a 90 minute drive of the position location.
