CNO Financial Group Payroll Analyst in Carmel, Indiana
As the Payroll Analyst you, under moderate technical direction, will participate in day to day payroll operations, support new and existing pay programs, and drive process standardization, automation, and improvement in the controls for payroll and ensures process efficiency and effectiveness. Working knowledge of US payroll laws and taxes is required.
Administer end to end payroll process and compliance for exempt and non-exempt employee populations, to include tuition reimbursement, taxable fringe benefit coordination, and payroll-related integration for internal/external sources.
Work with cross-functional departments to implement payroll process improvements and best practices, to drive excellence and eliminate errors.
Work with payroll team members to document and implement payroll processes, policies and procedures to ensure proper internal controls, efficiency and a great employee experience.
Assist Sr Analyst and Manager with payroll system and tools implementation and improvement projects, including helping set ups, reports and testing.
Work with internal partners to facilitate payroll processes, including garnishment administration, severance, bonus administration, benefits and withholdings (e.g. leave of absence, employee benefits, 401k, FSA, etc.)
Review payroll reporting and ensure accurate and timely filing with appropriate government authorities. Support external financial audits, as needed. Assist with payroll related audits e.g. 401(k), worker’s compensation, ESD, key SOX internal controls, etc.
Provide ad-hoc support and services as needed. This includes but is not limited to Workday testing, HRIS-related projects, etc.
Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; or equivalent experience.
Typically has a minimum of three years of end-to-end payroll processing including companies with 500+ employees
Previous experience with Workday Payroll highly preferred.
CPP designation preferred.
Good knowledge of payroll-related state, legal, tax, and compliance requirements.
Good understanding on basic accounting principles; knowledge and experience with journal entries and reconciliations.
Strong Excel skills (pivot tables and lookups) highly preferred.
Good understanding of payroll processes and best practices.
Understanding of time and attendance and non-exempt pay requirements.
Good management and organizational skills.
