CNO Financial Group Public Relations & Communications Analyst in Carmel, Indiana
What you will be doing:
Under technical direction, the Public Relations & Communications Analyst role is responsible for a variety of activities as it pertains to public relations, internal communications, social media, and communication/issues management. This role will work on and support public relations and media campaigns that drive CNO Financial Group and its respective brands forward. In addition he/she will provide communications support for our community/philanthropic efforts and corporate sponsorships and will be expected to coordinate specific projects and assignments under the direction of others. An ideal candidate for this role would be a creative junior-level communicator who knows how to juggle several projects, presents creative content ideas, supports team members, and works well under pressure.
Key Job Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
Under technical direction, conducts the background research to support content creation public relations campaigns, and traditional media and social media campaigns. Drafts, distributes and disseminates press releases, media releases and/or other external communications. Manages daily news scans and reporting; also manages social engagement tracking and reporting; Prepares daily news clip reports. Coordinates content calendars for external communications. Identifies internal stories and programs and position for external communications; acts as a story teller. Creates graphical content in support of communications campaigns, including infographics, PowerPoints, etc. Maintains and creates media lists and editorial calendars. Typically also supports and assists in creating communication messaging and materials to support various groups within the Communications team including, but not limited to, drafting internal announcements, newsletters, etc.
May perform additional duties as assigned.
What you'll need to bring:
Knowledge of Communications, Marketing, and/or Public Relations principles and practices. Strong writing and editing abilities; proficiency in AP style. Proficient experience with digital media – LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, etc. Good communications skills, both written and verbal; good ability to act as a story teller. Interest or background in graphic design is required. Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including PowerPoint, Word, Excel, etc...
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Journalism, English, Mass Communications, Marketing, or related field, or equivalent, is required. Typically requires up to two to three years of related work experience. Experience with Cision, PR Newswire and Hootsuite a plus Agency experience is preferred.
