CNO Financial Group Sr. Director Enterprise Architecture in Carmel, Indiana
The Sr Director of Enterprise Architecture will develop and lead the strategy for an Enterprise Architecture Strategy. This will involve both the development of the architecture, setting technical standards from both a development and infrastructure perspective as well as provide technical oversight of Enterprise wide programs and projects. Under the direction of the Chief Technology officer the role will be primarily responsible for aligning domain strategies to IT and Business capabilities. The role will be responsible for managing and overseeing large Infrastructure technology strategies and investments. Moreover, the role will oversee multiple external vendor partnerships, establish contracts ensuring CNO’s interests are protected, and balance responsibilities for reducing technical debt and system complexity with the need for speed to market and competitive delivery costs.
Key Job Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
Leads enterprise architecture strategies to ensure that our technology landscape aligns and supports our business and IT goals efficiently and effectively
Understands, addresses and manages the expectations of business leadership teams and key stakeholders
Supervises people and develops capabilities of teams that are responsible for enterprise architecture standards and application integration and data service delivery
Leads a diverse set of Enterprise wide disciplines including: Enterprise Architecture, Strategic Integration Platforms, Cloud Strategy, and Data Architecture and Delivery
Recommend data practices and technology choices including Cloud technology
Leads recommendations for strategic investments in applications and data solutions, tools, and infrastructure
Interact with business managers and understand their needs
Communicate business-oriented goals for initiatives and align it to the enterprise architecture strategies
Recruit talent and building teams with the right mix of skill sets
May perform additional duties as assigned
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
Deep knowledge of multiple technology domains with expert knowledge in one or more domains.
In-depth working knowledge of business and technology, and ability to remain current with emerging industry and technology trends.
Strong ability to coach and lead team members on functional assignments.
Proven experience in Infrastructure architecture, medium-scale system design and development experience
Strong analytic and conceptual skills.
Ability to understand long-term and short-term implications of decisions, and to estimate the financial impact of various alternatives.
Has a broad technology background with exposure to a variety of platforms, operating systems, and tools.
Strong interpersonal skills, with specific emphasis on team-building and facilitation.
Strong verbal and writing skills to that enable clear communication of company objectives and project plans. Ability to communicate with appropriate context to all levels of the organization (primarily up to VP levels) and across business units. Able to leverage communication skills to influence decisions.
Ability to lead groups of people and provide key input into decisions that have a major impact on key business metrics.
Provides respective Infrastructure architecture perspective in decisions related to other architecture disciplines.
Keeps abreast of industry and market trends, determining potential benefits to business area.
Education and Experience
BS degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Technology, ore related computing majors required, or equivalent experience
At least 10 years experience leading large programs or teams of people in a business or IT Area (i.e. budgets exceeding $1M
At least 5 years of experience in leading teams or programs in multiple areas
Strong experience delivering business specific infrastructure programs
Proven moderate to large scale system design and development experience
