CNO Financial Group Sr Financial Reporting Analyst in Carmel, Indiana

CNO Financial Group is hiring a Sr Accountant and Financial Analyst to coordinate the accounting, reporting and financial statement preparation for assigned insurance entities within CNO Financial Group.

This is your opportunity to be a part of the preparation of the quarterly and annual GAAP and STAT insurance entity financial statements, including the balance sheet, income statement and statement of cash flows.

As a Sr Accountant Financial Analyst , your responsibilities will include:

  • Participate in the preparation of quarterly and annual financial reporting including segment reporting, statutory statements and related filings and MD&A disclosures.

  • Contribute to the preparation of the statutory Annual Statement. Performs cross check and other quality control procedures.

  • Assist with the performance of procedures to assure that the accounting and reporting are in compliance with all applicable accounting rules and requirements; and such requirements have been applied consistently in accordance with CNO and professional standards.

  • Contributes to determining GAAP and STAT accounting consequences for proposed and/or completed actions, as well as the calculation of key performance indicators and with the preparation of STAT to GAAP reconciliations.

  • Provide documentation, analysis and reports that supports the needs of the Assistant Controller.

  • Deliver commentary to explain significant fluctuations between actual results and the plan and forecasts.

  • Assist in the calculation of RBC levels and in explaining significant variances.

  • Contributes to the maintenance of a strong internal control environment meeting SOX objectives.

The Sr Accountant Financial Analyst position is well-suited for you if you:

  • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Can clear and resolve basic accounting problems.

  • Work well independently as well as with a team.

  • Analyze problems and implement solutions.

  • Good understanding of accounting principles and a strong attention to detail.

Qualified candidates will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.

  • CPA or working towards CPA preferred.

  • Five years of experience in accounting and financial reporting.

  • Insurance Industry experience preferred, specifically GAAP and STAT life insurance accounting and reporting.

CNO Financial Group offices reopened in April 2022 and we will be pursuing a hybrid working model. Associates who live within a 60 mile radius of a corporate office (Birmingham, Carmel, Chicago, Philadelphia, Orlando and Milwaukee) will have access to come into that Office up to 2 days/week, and work from home at least 3 days/week. This role is full time work from home (WFH), also known as Remote. This role can be performed from any US based location within the central or eastern time zone. Work cannot be performed from outside of the United States.
