Overall Job Summary
As the Senior Infrastructure Architect for Messaging and Collaboration, the resource must possess expertise in MS Exchange for the cloud, Exchange Migration Strategies, MS InTune, Yammer, MS Teams, Office 365 implementation and enhancements, And an understanding of SharePoint Migration to cloud methodologies and strategies. They will be responsible for assessing current and emerging technologies, creating a messaging and collaboration Road Map, the support strategy (for turn over to outsourced build/run operations), as well as the continuous improvement plan. They will act as a critical project planning resource to ensure their architectural guidelines and parameters are adhered to and followed in conjunction with their published roadmaps, and lead the discussions for what technologies should be considered go forward for CNO. Works within significant limits and authority on assignments requiring moderate to high technical complexity and coordination. Leads projects and has accountability for ongoing activities and objectives. May manage parts of enterprise-wide projects.
Key Job Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
Under limited direction, is typically responsible for multiple common (sometimes diverse) Infrastructure Technologies in a Domain (i.e. Microsoft Windows Operating System, Storage Systems, Linux, Virtualization, Automation, Apache, Tomcat, WAS, Oracle, SQL, etc.). Adheres to infrastructure guidelines, design patterns, and standards as determined and set into policy. Develops roadmap of the evolution of the infrastructure in-scope from current to future state.
Identify, analyze, and recommend technologies for approval based on an understanding and business requirements. Facilitate improved delivery of proposed solutions, by identification and documentation of technical and architecture technology requirements to be executed by our third party partner in a timely, cost effective, and integrated fashion.
Work with implementation teams to assess and review the architectural implementation of systems and projects to ensure conformance with defined architectural standards. Solves specific implementation challenges while encouraging adherence to architectural and infrastructure standards.
Analyze IT area drivers to determine corresponding architectural impact. Assess and gather the (skills, processes, structures or culture) and financial impact of proposed strategies.
Define specifications that conform to architectural principles and ensure standards are upheld and exceptions are managed. Document all architecture design and analysis work
Work with peer architects in other areas to ensure clear lines of communication, common architectural and capability assumptions.
Collaborates with business partners, software engineers, technology and operations leadership to advance business outcomes and architectural concerns. Works with 3rd party vendors and the Managed Services team to develop and implement technology enabled roadmaps.
Selects and evaluates software/hardware product standards, as well as the design of standard configurations.
Verifies compliance with all technical requirements.
Trains and acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
Strong working knowledge of multiple Infrastructure or technical design areas and strong understanding of Infrastructure methodologies and technologies
Works independently with limited guidance. Strong knowledge of major components of a technical architecture.
Has an understanding of the latest developments or changes of market conditions in the industry.
Strong ability to develop solution patterns and architectural specifications and can work closely with other teams to implement them successfully.
Solid understanding of information processing principles and practices
Strong knowledge of current systems software, protocols, and standards; knowledge of software/hardware evaluation principles and practices.
Ability to translate business needs into solution architecture requirements. Understands and comprehends the functions and capabilities of new technologies; estimates the financial impact of solution architecture alternatives.
Has exposure to multiple, diverse technical configurations, technologies and processing environments.
Strong interpersonal skills in areas such as teamwork and facilitation.
Strong written and verbal communication skills; good planning and organizational skills.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Technology, or related computing major required, or equivalent experience.
Typically, a minimum of five years of experience designing and implementing infrastructure solutions, and in multiple of the following disciplines:
Server OS Administration
Data Center Architecture
End User Computing Administration
Messaging Systems Administration
- Typically, has at least two related industry certifications.
