CNO Financial Group Sr. Solution Architect - Remote from any US remote location in Eastern or Central time zone location in Carmel, Indiana

CNO’s IT team is hiring a Senior Solution Architect who will be responsible for Providing end to end technical oversight from design through owning implementation of the solution including, but not limited to, integrations with internal and external systems, APIs, databases. Consultation with Principal Architects and Enterprise Architecture team to understand pros/cons of each option and design solutions across a wide and diverse set of applications, that meet business requirements. Providing high level sizing estimates for complex and sometimes incomplete requirements, defining performance testing strategy, conduct ongoing design reviews and driving resolution of roadblocks faced by the team. Creation of scalable architecture and full accountability of the implementation solution including technical artifacts meet the expectations of the RUN team. Recommendation of prototypes, proofs of concept, to evaluate new technologies, when applicable. Additional duties as assigned.

The Senior Solution Architect position is well-suited if you have

  • Demonstrated technical experience implementing customer facing enterprise platforms with several interfaces, APIs, software architecture, cloud computing, DevOps, CI/CD, etc.

  • Strong understanding and knowledge base of architecture, design patterns, industry accepted best practices, databases, data warehouses, proactive monitoring of key services

  • The ability to work independently with limited guidance to understand the end goal and seek assistance from other peers or IT/business groups to understand the “why” of business needs that allows you to build a scalable solution

  • Strong ability to solve complex technical problems through methodical thinking, planning and resolution of issues faced by the team by working through obstacles.

  • The ability to monitor progress of the delivery team members.

  • The ability to be a strong and effective communicator who is comfortable discussing complex problems across both technical and non-technical audiences.

Qualified candidates will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree, in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline OR 8 years relevant work experience as an equivalent.

  • Minimum of five to seven years of related technical experience, with increasing responsibility. Prior experience as a “hands on” Development/Technical lead is a plus

  • Broad technology experience including cloud architecture, application development, relational/No SQL databases, machine learning, DevOps, containers, serverless, CI/CD, system monitoring, cloud migrations, etc.

  • Experience working with virtual and international teams building large enterprise, mission critical systems

  • Experience implementing a scalable solution architecture to support high volume transactions using APIs and common services and database backends for applications

  • Agile certification required

  • Technical Architecture certification desired

  • Prior insurance industry experience desired

This role is full time work from home (WFH), also known as Remote. This role can be performed from any US based location within the central or eastern time zone. CNO Financial Group offices reopened in April 2022 and we will be pursuing a hybrid working model. Associates who live within a 60 mile radius of a corporate office (Birmingham, Carmel, Chicago, Philadelphia, Orlando and Milwaukee) will have access to come into that Office up to 2 days/week, and work from home at least 3 days/week. Work cannot be performed from outside of the United States.
