The stated pay range is based on a national-average location. Actual salary is determined by factors including relevant work experience, skills and location. This position is bonus eligible.
CNO Financial Group’s Accounting Operations Division is hiring a Senior Staff Accountant, Accounting Operations to hold responsibility for accounting and reporting responsibilities for general accounting type activities, reconciling general ledger accounts, balancing financial systems, and maintaining accurate records.
This is your opportunity to oversee communications with internal and external customers, assist with audit requests, research out of balances and other general ledger responsibilities.
As a Sr Staff Accountant, Accounting Operations, your responsibilities will include:
Performing accounting functions in accordance with monthly/quarterly/annual reporting.
Preparing monthly account reconciliations and investigating variances.
Responding to escalated inquiries from internal/external customers.
Preparing, distributing and processing accounting transactions on a daily & monthly basis.
Performing testing procedures and gather documentation for projects.
Preparing information for internal/external audits.
Assisting and monitoring tasks being performed offshore.
The Sr Staff Accountant, Accounting Operations position is well-suited for you if you:
Have a strong accounting knowledge.
Are proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).
Possess analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong attention to detail.
Prioritize and meet deadlines.
Work well independently and with a team.
Hold excellent verbal and written communication skills.
What you’ll need:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or eight years of relevant work experience.
At least three years of experience in accounting.
What will set you apart:
CPA or in pursuit of CPA designation.
Prior insurance experience.
Shared services accounting experience.
Suspense accounting experience.
Candidate location in Central or Eastern US time zone is preferred OR willingness to work Central or Eastern time zone business hours.

Associates who live outside of a 60-mile radius of a corporate office (Birmingham, Carmel, Chicago, Orlando and Milwaukee) may perform this role full-time work from home (WFH) from any US based location, as long as you are willing to work central or eastern time zone hours.
All associates may be asked to travel to varying corporate offices periodically. Work cannot be performed from outside of the United States.
