CNO Financial Group IT Data Analyst in Chicago, Illinois
CNO’s Data Team ( part of our IT organization ) is hiring a Data Analyst to be responsible for identifying, profiling, and mapping data in meaningful ways across our enterprise data landscape. The role focuses on building a technical and analytic skill set that will be used in execution of our data governance, data delivery, and technology modernization initiatives.
This role is a great opportunity to work with folks from across the business and within IT as you build knowledge and expertise of CNO’s data and systems landscape. Very quickly you will start to draw meaningful insights that support data quality programs, policyholder sales, and customer service projects, and eventually contribute to more transformational data analytics and programs.
As an IT Data Analyst, your responsibilities will include:
Discovering, analyzing and documenting data and integrations to provide meaning, context, and proper use cases for data collections
Contributing content and supporting the ongoing development of our data catalog and data governance tools
Collaborating with other analysts, architects, and development teams to specify and identify data requirements and build solutions that leverage our enterprise data assets
Growing business relationships, domain knowledge, and technical expertise that will become critical to the success of projects
Performing root cause analysis related to production support and project requests
Learning and leveraging enterprise tools and technologies that improve our data analysis capabilities
Becoming knowledgeable and proficient using reporting and visualization tools
The IT Data Analyst position is well-suited for you if you:
Enjoy working with SQL and relational databases and want to grow your data skillset with additional technology
Have a curious mind and love asking “why” until you have satisfactory logical answers
Are collaborative, cooperative, and team oriented, with a bias toward action.
Learn best by doing and discovering, and can create definition and understanding amid ambiguous requirements
Demonstrate good written and verbal communication skills.
Qualified candidates will have:
Bachelor’s degree in computer/information science, information systems, data analytics, software engineering (or similar degree)
At least two years of experience in a corporate work environment
The ability to use SQL to analyze and profile data in relational databases
Previous experience utilizing data discovery, classification and cataloging tools highly preferred
A proven track record of strong problem-solving skills
Demonstrate an ability to contribute positively to the collaborative and inclusive culture we are building

Our associates will have access to come into their affiliated Office (Carmel, Chicago or Philadelphia) up to 2 days/week, and work from home up to 3 days/week. To ensure accessibility to our corporate campuses, we ask that candidates reside within a 60 mile radius of the position location.
