CNO Financial Group is hiring a Manager of Health Underwriting to supervise all work related to the processing of requirements needed in the evaluation of applications. They will handle communication to employees and management regarding processes related to these tasks and oversee the day to day activities of the team to ensure all guidelines are followed accurately and stated goals are met. The scope includes the ability to follow set guidelines, evaluate processes and suggest improvements related to the work.

As a Manager of Health Underwriting, your responsibilities will include:
Manage day to day work assignments - Make adjustments as required and monitor the tracking, metrics, and analysis of work so resources are used efficiently. Monitor daily service levels, inventory and cycle time to meet department goals.
Coach and mentor staff to maximize potential and place them in appropriate work assignments.
Day to day management of resources to maintain appropriate staffing levels. Handling of regular performance feedback, regular staff meetings and one on one conversations with team members.
Work closely with Claims to ensure contestable claims are handled in a timely fashion and trends are tracked for possible action.
Work closely with vendors as a single point of contact and to ensure service goals are met.
Work with Compliance and Legal to ensure we are following guidelines and serves as contact for underwriting across the enterprise.
Supervising the direction of supporting work related to the selection of risk.
The Manager of Health Underwriting position is well-suited for you if you:
Work well with others on the management team, establish strong relationships with other internal areas such as (but not limited to) Simplified Issue and Client Services.
Can weigh different factors to apply judgment, analyze them and propose alternative solutions to all business goals (so they can be met or exceeded).
Have a customer focus, thrive in a change management environment and can drive for results.
Are a team player and have the ability to succeed in a performance-oriented culture.
Have strong sense of urgency, consistency and accuracy.
Qualified candidates will have:
Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Extensive underwriting knowledge and expertise.
Prior underwriting management experience is a plus.
Strong underwriting knowledge of health insurance with expertise in multiple health impairments and suitability.
Proficient in reporting to create and analyses data/metrics for desired results that will meet or exceed goals.
FLMI or courses completed for designation or being actively pursued.
