CNO Financial Group IT Operational Excellence Consultant in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Overall Job Summary

Under limited technical direction, provides strategic oversight to align IT operational processes, tools, and practices, including establishing formal governance to monitor transition of existing processes to Agile based delivery in compliance and adherence to standards. Develops standards, processes, and objectives reflecting IT operational best practices to deliver process improvements across IT. Works with Business, IT, and Service Providers, establishes performance goals, and the metrics and reporting required to track performance.

Key Job Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  1. Independently defines and implement metrics and measurements to monitor and improve IT performance.

  2. Act as point of contact between different departments within IT and relevant third parties to understand process constraints and establish/recommend improvement priorities.

  3. Develops standards, processes, and objectives reflecting the best practices associated with high-performing organizations. Administer, implement, and govern standards and technologies.

  4. Partner with stakeholders to understand gaps and improvement opportunities that accelerate realization of business objectives

  5. Coach, consult, and mentor teams on delivery approaches and the use of techniques to deliver results.

  6. Define IT scorecards for internal and external stakeholders to provide meaningful status of IT performance.

  7. Present information (metrics, scorecards, improvement plans) for the purpose of communicating information, gaining feedback, and ensuring adherence to established processes.

  8. Implement any changes sensitively and with minimal disruption.

  9. Create a system to evaluate the success of any adjustments made within the organization and present any findings.

  10. Maintain efficiency and quality in the work setting.

  11. Evaluate current practices, looking for ways to improve productivity, reduce costs, and improve speed to market. Evaluate resource performance against standards.

  12. Can flex as a SWAT team member when critical needs arise.

  13. May or may not have direct reports. Typically has a large dedicated team of analyst or project managers supporting them as well as contractors. The role is expected to provide leadership to these roles and be a substantial contributor to their performance reviews.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

  1. Good Knowledge of Agile and DevOps delivery, business architecture, business and systems analysis concepts and best practices

  2. Strong knowledge with SDLC and various delivery methodologies.

  3. Solid working knowledge of lean and other industry leading methodologies, approaches, tools and techniques.

  4. Strong ability to define and establish metrics and methods for governing process adherence.

  5. Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey ideas, issues, and status in both technical and non-technical terms to stakeholders and leadership.

  6. Attentive to detail with strong analytical and critical thinking skills as well as a consultative mindset, to solve complex problems. Be a problem-solver, actively participate and ask questions.

  7. Customer facing experience and presentation skills with leadership, key stakeholders, and service providers.

  8. Ability to build relationships at all levels within the enterprise with passion for being ‘one team’ throughout CNO. Know who your customers are and ensure they know who you are.

  9. Willingness and desire to accept and give fast feedback, with a focus on learning and improving

  10. Demonstrated experience using data to drive business decisions. Proven ability to quickly learn new applications, processes, and procedures

  11. Aptitude for fostering effective relationships; customer focused

  12. Drive to get things done; possesses a bias for action. Willingness to make decisions and take smart risks

Education and Experience:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in related discipline is typically required; or equivalent.

  2. Experience working in a regulated industry executing Agile delivery preferred

  3. Typically requires at least five years of IT analysis, process improvement and/or project management experience.
