CNO Financial Group Manager, Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) in Carmel, Indiana

Job Details

The stated pay range is based on a national-average location. Actual salary is determined by factors including relevant work experience, skills and location. This position is bonus eligible.

CNO Financial Group’s Accounting Department is hiring a Manager Financial Planning and Analysis to provide direct support to mid-level business or functional leaders, ensuring effective financial planning and analysis, proactive business reporting, process improvements and value-added project work while maintaining business continuity and timely reporting.

This is your opportunity to prepare various deliverables to support both internal and external financial reporting needs, including but not limited to quarterly GAAP reporting and monthly earnings and expense analysis.

As a Manager FP&A, your responsibilities will include:

  • Directly partnering with business leaders to develop the key assumptions and projections supporting the annual financial plan and quarterly forecasts for a mid-level business or functional leader, including loading of projections into accounting systems.

  • Mentoring and directing daily tasks for financial analyst(s).

  • Aggregating, preparing and analyzing key themes through detailed expense reporting, including tracking actual performance against budget and forecast by account, cost center, function and project for a mid-level business or functional lead.

  • Preparing, analyzing and presenting content for monthly internal business or function reviews.

  • Preparing, analyzing, forecasting and reporting on applicable commission, incentive and/or bonus programs.

  • Performing month end/quarter end accounting processes, such as reviewing, preparing, and posting journal entries and monitoring aggregated businesses and / or functions for unusual trends or fluctuations.

  • Preparing and analyzing other more complex topics supporting quarterly reporting in support of internal and external management meetings.

  • Analyzing key performing metrics and providing strategic insights based on the analysis.

  • Performing complex ad hoc analysis and/or benchmarking.

  • Maintaining adequate documentation and controls over existing processes.

The Manager FP&A position is well suited for you if you:

  • Proactively lead complex, multi-functional data analysis to generate data-driven, value-added recommendations.

  • Have proven and effective business partnering skills with the ability to support mid-level business or functional leaders.

  • Possess experience leading cost/benefit analysis, process improvements, and financial analysis.

  • Can execute on multiple objectives simultaneously without sacrificing timing or quality.

  • Excel with new, complex, and evolving tasks in a fast-paced environment.

  • Make critical decisions based on sound analysis and past experiences while understanding risks, opportunities, and managing the broader implications of those decisions.

  • Hold strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to draft and deliver clear and effective management presentations.

  • Can mentor and develop proficiency in associates, when required .

What you’ll need:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Accounting or Finance; preferably insurance experience.

  • Seven years of related experience; with 5+ years of progressive financial and business management.

What will set you apart:

  • Master’s degree.

  • CPA or CFA.

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and Power Points skills, Tableau and Alteryx a plus.

All associates may be asked to travel to varying corporate offices periodically. Work cannot be performed from outside of the United States.
