CNO Financial Group Lead Solution Architect - REMOTE in United States

Salary Range : $136,600 - $204,800 Annual

Job Details

The stated pay range is based on a national average location. Actual salary is determined by factors including relevant work experience, skills and location. This position is bonus-eligible.

The Lead Solution Architect is responsible for designing large-scale mission-critical solutions across various technology domains (such as application, data, and infrastructure) and has specialized subject matter expertise in architecture design solutions. They own the solution from end to end and provide technology and architecture direction on major projects with a typical scope between $1M and $5M. This role also leads projects with significant resource requirements, risk, and complexity through implementation. The Lead Solution Architect manages enterprise projects that have a moderate to significant impact on the organization and works within high limits and authority on assignments requiring high technical complexity and coordination.

As a Lead Solution Architect, your responsibilities will include:

  • Serving as a subject matter expert in the Solution Architecture space.

  • Leading the technology and architecture direction on large critical projects (i.e. scope is typically between $1M and $5M).

  • Acting as a lead and liaison for large projects with high visibility within the Solution Architecture space and serves as a mentor/lead for other Solution Architects.

  • Leading technology evaluation and selection, and reviewing technical design from development teams; providing and/or validating work estimates coordinating across technical teams.

  • Providing technical project oversight and owning the implementation of the entire solution from architecture development through production deployment.

  • Partnering with business delivery groups to understand business and architecture requirements.

  • Providing technical leadership in the areas of architecture standards, development best practices, design principles, performance testing strategy, etc. that meets Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Non-Functional Requirements ex. Scalability, Performance, Availability, Resiliency, Security, Concurrency, etc.

  • Interacting with other IT disciplines, analysts, developers, testers, and project manager to ensure successful delivery of projects; participating and providing feedback on test strategy, end to end system integration, automation, and performance testing.

  • Effectively communicating technology direction, decisions and tradeoffs.

  • Creating and presenting technical studies, recommendations, business cases and/or proposals for modernization of legacy platforms/applications and/or enhancements that will deliver continuous improvements to optimize platforms/applications/services.

  • May be assigned other duties as needed.

The Lead Solution Architect position is well-suited for you if you:

  • Are a subject matter expert in application development and development methodologies.

  • Have a strong technical background and a proven ability to solve complex technical problems through methodical thinking, planning, and overcoming obstacles.

  • Have a strong ability to solve large technical and complex problems/applications.

  • Demonstrate the ability to lead experienced technical resources including other architects.

  • Can explain complex concepts to non-technical audiences and translate system decisions into “business speak” for decision makers to understand.

  • Possess strong written, verbal, and presentation skills. Requires a high level of communication and diplomacy skills to direct, persuade, and influence others, particularly at senior levels within the function.

  • Can adapt to rapidly changing technology and apply it to business needs, as well as operate effectively in ambiguity.

  • Understand mid to long-term perspectives of situations and can analyze IT business drivers to determine the corresponding impact.

What you’ll need:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field is required. Master’s degree preferred.

  • Agile and/or technical certification is required

  • Insurance industry experience is required

  • Typically has a minimum of 10 years of technical experience including as a technical lead is preferred (ex. experience on LifePro or similar policy administration platform).

  • Demonstrated experience developing a solution architecture across a wide range of technologies (cloud computing, API gateway, microservices, mainframe, middleware services, DevOps, etc.).

  • Experience participating in and preferably providing technical leadership on large critical projects and systems

What will set you apart:

  • Experience leading other architects at a project/program or direct report level is desired

  • Candidate location in Carmel, IN location is desired, otherwise can work remotely from EST or CST time zone locations.

All associates may be asked to travel to varying corporate offices periodically. Work cannot be performed from outside of the United States.
